Keep the polyphenols nearby

Your gut health is also greatly influenced by polyphenols.

Similar to prebiotics, they encourage the development of helpful bacteria while preventing the development of potentially dangerous bacteria or other infections.

Polyphenols are also consumed by the bacteria in your colon, which transform them into bioactive substances that balance the environment of your gut and promote health.

Good sources of polyphenols are:

  • Berries

  • Kiwi

  • Cherries

  • Plums

  • Apples

  • Chicory

  • Red cabbage

  • Yellow onions

  • Green tea

  • Dark chocolate

  • Red wine

You can help keep your gut healthy by including a variety of these foods in your diet. The more variety, the better!
